Fairly standard cheesy action movie, with a plot twist. You know that plot twist where they put an AI in charge of a versatile, unique and devestatingly powerful new weapons system and it goes haywire and tries to kill the heroes? That one.
Except it's handled extremely well. Solid acting (not sparkling but not weak), seamless transition between CGI, model and physical effects, eyewatering aerial maneouvres and combats, and a few surprises, had me actually biting my nails. On the downside? A fair amount of telegraphing. The trio of hot white guy, hot white chick and token black man is a fairly hackneyed device; it's blatently obvious how it's going to end. But it was good to see it happen.

This is also the first film of the year to make me actually say "Wow" out loud in the cinema (when you first see the AI in a dogfight), top score from me, and I will be buying it when it comes out.

Might go and watch it again now...
